Camilla did not leak details of her first meeting with William to the press, royal sources claim

The Queen didn’t tell the press about her first meeting with Prince William, royal insiders insist, after the Duke of Sussex wrote in his diary that she leaked the story to the media.

In his new autobiography Spear, Prince Harry has made a series of surprising revelations about the royal family, including claiming that Camilla gave ‘meticulously minute details’ to the press about the first time she met the heir.

‘no one [of the details] Of Willie of course. It could only have been leaked by someone else present, Harry wrote, hinting Camilla is spilling the beans on reporters.

But a royal insider told The Telegraph that it was Camilla’s private secretary who accidentally shared the details, later resigning.

Harry ‘creates a very shaky narrative and is in parts an amalgam of different versions of stories’, a source told The Telegraph, before going on to claim that Camilla’s personal assistant Amanda McManus was responsible for leaking details about the 1998 meeting.

Camilla Parker Bowles as she was then known allegedly told MacManus, who later told her media-savvy husband.

A newspaper then obtained the details from a former colleague of McManus’ husband, the source insisted.

Camilla was said to be “furious” when she discovered the leak and McManus quit.

The aide, who was later rehired by Camilla, said at the time: “I am so sorry for the distress this has caused. Above all, it is a disgrace that I have failed those who demand loyalty and trust, in particular my wonderful employer Mrs. Parker-Bowles.

“I am very sorry for my departure, but as the person responsible for this unhappy chain of events, I cannot with honor remain in this position.”
