Do you have Neanderthal DNA in your genome? They could, since (according to one article) many people “living today have a small piece of Neanderthal DNA in their genes.” In the evolutionary worldview, this is the result of “hybridization” as various “archaic human lineages” (not just Neanderthals) were mixed with humans during the “evolution of our species”.
This is all back in science news because a new study was recently published looking at ancient human fossils to help researchers spot features in these skeletons that suggest the person may have been a “hybrid.” could (e.g. someone with a Neanderthal father). but a “modern human” mother). The study found that “signals of hybridization were evident in braincases and jaws, but not in faces.”
They were fully human, descendants of Adam just like you and I, with some unique genetic variations, some of which live on in the genomes of modern humans.
So what does all this talk of “hybridization” mean within a biblical worldview? Well, we understand that it’s not “hybridization” at all — it’s people having children with other people. Yes, Neanderthals have some unique genetic variations, but the fact that they could have children with “modern” humans clearly shows that Neanderthals, as we would expect starting with God’s Word, are not some kind of subhuman cousin or other branch were or lineage on our family tree. They were fully human, descendants of Adam just like you and I, with some unique genetic variations, some of which live on in the genomes of modern humans. Since Neanderthals were fully human, they actually have human DNA, which we all share anyway.
Every time you see another study of Neanderthals in the news, you are reminded of the truth of God’s Word and how the evolutionary belief that these humans were subhuman has failed dramatically. Why? Because the story in God’s Word is actually true, and evolution is nothing more than an erroneous interpretation of the evidence based on the wrong starting point: man’s ideas.
