Foodies Outraged as Beloved Pasta Brand Discontinues Small Star-Shaped Comfort Food Pastina

Ronzoni is under fire for discontinuing one of its most popular pasta shapes, pastina.

The little star-shaped pasta known by many Star The soup dish that is regularly referred to as “Italian Penicillin” is no longer produced by a family pasta maker.

“We hear you and we really appreciate your love for Ronzoni Pastina. After many efforts, we regretfully announce the termination of Ronzoni Pastina,” said the official statement shared on Instagram and Twitter with the company reading, “This was not an easy decision.”

He explained that the brand’s “long-term supplier” had informed Rozzoni representatives that the small star-shaped macaroni would no longer be produced from January 2023.

“We searched extensively for an alternative solution but were unable to identify a viable alternative to the Pastina in the same desirable small form factor, size and performance that you expect from Ronzoni,” he said in a statement. “As a result, we had to make this difficult decision to discontinue this product.”

The statement concluded with a few words of promise: “Your love for Ronzoni fuels our desire to offer it to you. We have not given up hope, but as of today we cannot offer Ronzoni Pastina to our customers. Thank you for your understanding and trust in Ronzoni Pasta.”

While Ronzoni hinted at the idea that the discontinued product might eventually return to store shelves, fans are upset by the current loss.

One Instagram user was heartbroken to eat the lost box, joking, “I’m putting the last box in a glass case and filming it in my living room.”

“Boycotting all Ronozoni products until they bring back the Pastina,” tweeted one angry customer.

“Big mistake, big.” Another announced.

A few took the opportunity to vent their anger at Ronzoni, voicing all of his frustration over the changes to the company’s pasta in his comments.

Others, however, put their allegiance to pasta brands that still offer the popular mini macaroni.

The passive-aggressiveness continued, with another tweeting, “If you can’t deliver Pastina when we want it, head to Barilla, Ronzoni. Quitting?!
