How to play Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming | iPhone or Android


Since Fortnite cannot be downloaded from either the Google Play Store or the App Store, Xbox has stepped in so that we can play Fortnite on iPhone and Android on our smartphones thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming. Fortnite is available completely free on Xbox Cloud Gaming. You just need a good enough internet connection to play.

After a few simple steps, you can finally play Fortnite on your smart device again. With touchscreen controls as well as controller options, playing the game on your phone might be the best way anyway.

How to play Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming on Android and iPhone

To play Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming on Android and iPhone devices, you must first link your Epic Games account to your Microsoft account.

Simply log into Epic Games and go to your account settings. Find and select Connections, scroll down to Xbox and select Connect. Sign up and you’re connected and ready to go.

After linking your Epic Games and Microsoft accounts, just follow these steps to play Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming on Android:

  • Visit the Xbox Cloud Gaming website (do it here)
    • Sign in using the blank avatar image in the top right corner of the screen
  • Find Fortnite and play for free
    • It should be on the Xbox Cloud Gaming homepage, but if it’s not, you’ll have to search for it

Luckily, it really is a simple process. If you also want to speed things up for future use, you can always bookmark the page in your browser or add it to your home screen for quick access. Just tap the blue share button in Safari or the three-dot icon in Chrome and choose Add or Add to Home Screen. Whew, you’ve got Fortnite back on your smartphone.

Also keep in mind that with Xbox Cloud Gaming you should be able to play Fortnite using touchscreen controls or a controller (the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S controller should work just fine).
