The prize was originally awarded virtually because of the pandemic. Eight months later, the long-awaited trophy was personally presented by IFG CEO Andy Higgins to the Agricola Andrea leadership team, which consists of owner Jonathan Geller and marketing and business strategy director Eduardo Mazzini, during the California Field Days in August 2022.

“We are proud to personally recognize Agricola Andrea after making this announcement practically last year,” said Higgins. “You really set the standard as the first winners of the DW Cain Award.

“We look forward to selecting the 2022 winner later this year and continuing to celebrate those licensees who go the extra mile and help achieve our mission of using natural breeding methods to provide consumers with an incredible dining experience. “

The DW Cain Award was presented in honor of IFG founder Dr. David Cain, whose years of dedication and revolutionary breeding developments transformed the industry.

The award recognizes licensees who have shown exemplary work in supporting and promoting the IFG vision in the grape industry. The IFG team chose Agricola Andrea for its commitment to quality and as a partner in adopting and promoting IFG’s variety logos and trademarks.

In addition, Agricola Andrea was instrumental in the creative representation of IFG in retail, resulting in millions of IFG branded packs being distributed in the market.

Agricola Andrea has been an IFG licensee for almost nine years and is the largest licensed producer of IFG in Peru, producing 100 percent IFG varieties.

“A passion for excellence is in our hearts and in our souls,” said Mazzini. “This award carries the IFG image and everything that stands behind it, as well as Dr. Cain’s vision for the industry. It is a true privilege and we are truly grateful to receive this award.”
