Mitchell Johnson Praises Virat Kohli as the Indian Captain Regains His Form — Transcontinental Times

AUSTRALIA/INDIA: Mitchell Johnson, a former Australian pacesetter, has praised Virat Kohli and said it is excellent for Team India to have the 33-year-old back in the running game.

By hitting his 71st international century against Afghanistan this month, Kohli broke a 1,020-day century drought. He finished the competition as the second highest scorer with 276 runs with an excellent batting average of 147.59.

The first of the three T20Is between India and Australia will take place in Mohali on September 20th. The other two will be held in Nagpur and Hyderabad on September 23rd and 25th.

“You have to aim to win the series in difficult circumstances. As a result, they go into the World Cup with more self-confidence. To begin with, they should have a strong and experienced team. The series is going to be amazing.” added Johnson.

Johnson noted that anything can happen during a World Cup match when discussing India’s chances at the 2018 ICC T20 Men’s World Championship.

“Enjoy the moment when it comes to the World Cup. You have to concentrate. They are all sizable teams. Because of the IPL, Indian players are used to playing in front of big crowds and under pressure. All of that (their Asian Cup performance) should be behind them.” remarked Johnson.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to start on October 16th and last until November 13th.
