About the spot

The Norwegian 7T-MR center in Trondheim opened in 2020. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) hosts the center, which is part of the national infrastructure for neuroscience, NORBRAIN. The main focus of the 7T center is brain imaging for neuroscience research, but it also serves several additional goals, both in the brain and in other parts of the body. Clinical use of the 7T scanner is provided by St.Olavs University Hospital HF and the staff of the 7T MR center consists of dedicated personnel from both NTNU and St.Olavs Hospital.

The 7T Center is located in the St.Olavs Hospital area. The imaging facilities at NTNU/St.Olavs Hospital also include PET/MR and 3T-MR scanners, as well as strong research activities in pre-clinical MR. The MR community in Trondheim consists of a large group of researchers and clinicians from NTNU and St.Olavs Hospital collaborating in highly multidisciplinary projects, combining background and expertise in MR physics, medicine, neuroscience, psychology, mathematics, cover computer science and engineering. This environment offers a unique combination of research and method development.

The main focus for this position is to support and interface with the research projects at the 7T MR Center. This includes many different tasks such as optimizing scan protocols, developing pulse sequences, data acquisition, processing and analysis.

duties of the position

  • Providing MR physics services to research users, including protocol optimization, data acquisition, data processing and analysis, and sequence development.
  • Collaborate with 7T MR clinical users and facilitate new clinical applications in close collaboration with St.Olavs Hospital staff
  • Some maintenance and service tasks (software installations, upgrades, MR attachments, data storage, etc.)
  • Training and education of users.
  • Some administrative tasks.

Required Selection Criteria

  • MSc in physics, biophysics, biomedical engineering or comparable
  • MR physics expertise, ideally in ultra-high field
  • programming skills
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Preferred selection criteria

  • PhD in Physics or Engineering with MRI/MRS
  • Experience in sequence development, ideally within Siemens IDEA
  • Experience in MR research and development, ideally in human brain imaging
  • Experience with MR data analysis in neuroscientific research
  • Experience working with databases
  • Experience from working in an interdisciplinary team
  • Norwegian language skills

We offer

salary and conditions

Senior Engineers are remunerated in code 1181 and are normally paid gross between NOK 534 900 and NOK 661 400 per year before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. 2% is deducted from salary as a contribution to the Norwegian Civil Service Pension Fund.

This position is a permanent full-time position (100%).

The engagement is carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations for government employees and officials as well as the laws controlling the export of strategic goods, services and technology. Candidates found to be inconsistent with the criteria of the latter statute, after evaluation of the application and addendum, will be disqualified from employment at NTNU. After the appointment, you must assume that there may be changes in the work area.

It is a requirement that you are present and available for the facility on a daily basis.
