Silversea Cruises has named its team of experts for the new ship’s maiden voyage Silver Effort.
Round trip from King George Island on November 21, 2022, Silver Effort will host historians, marine biologists, anthropologists, naturalists, filmmakers and more on her maiden voyage, providing guests with informative lectures, workshops and excursions as they journey deep into the white continent.
To celebrate the milestone, Conrad Combrink – SVP Expedition, Destination and Itinerary Management for Silversea – will join travelers on the seven-day fly-cruise sailing.

“In celebration of my 78th voyage to the continent, I look forward to accompanying our guests as we fly direct to Antarctica on an exclusive chartered DAP Antarctic Airways flight curated by Silversea and board the Silver Endeavor at King George Island, before spending seven days discovering this frozen world.
“Our industry-leading Expeditions team will craft an exceptional suite of experiences to showcase the best of the continent’s frigid landscapes and amazing wildlife Silver Endeavors Inaugural season, while Captain Niklas Peterstam and his crew will ensure exceptional service throughout – having served on board the ship since September 2021.”
Cruise experts include:
- Captain Niklas Peterstam – Master of Silver Endeavor; He leads the ship with over 30 years experience on expedition cruises.
- Conrad Combrink – SVP Expeditions, Destinations and Itinerary Management of Silversea.
- Marieke Egan – Expedition Leader with extensive experience in trekking, wilderness and expedition leadership.
- Nicholas Crane – Former President of the Royal Geographical Society and author, geographer and cartographic expert.
For the maiden voyage of Silver EffortSilversea guests will fly directly to Antarctica via the Antarctica Bridge, the cruise line’s cruise offering, and board the ship at King George Island on November 21, 2022.
Some of the destinations guests might experience include Antarctic Sound, where travelers might be greeted by towering ice formations as they approach the northernmost point of the Antarctic Peninsula. You have the opportunity to explore the landscape on hiking excursions, Zodiac tours and kayak trips hosted by the expedition team. You’ll spend days exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, with sightings of vast colonies of penguins and other wildlife including whales, various other bird species and seals. Following in the footsteps of famous explorers, Silversea plans to call at the South Shetland Islands before returning to King George Island where guests will board a return flight to Punta Arenas.
