In May 2022, Faria tweeted a short clip with Elon Musk. The pair announced ongoing negotiations between SpaceX and the Brazilian government over the Starlink service.

Faria shared a photo of students connecting with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk via Starlink’s internet system.

Musk responded to Minister Faria’s tweetRecalling the crucial role that education plays in people’s lives and the importance of internet connectivity in education.

“Education is the way out of poverty and internet access makes education possible”, written down Elon Musk.

SpaceX is also currently in talks with officials in the Republic of Zambia about Starlink services in the country. The Special Assistant to the President of the Republic of Zambia noted that Starlink services would escalate the country’s position in the digital economy.

According to Norad, education helps to combat and reduce the underlying structures of poverty. Studies have found that acquired basic skills such as reading, writing and arithmetic have a positive impact on the income of marginalized population groups. A UNESCO paper showed that education helps people escape chronic poverty and prevent intergenerational poverty.
