What happens when two separate horror films somehow reach new audiences without the help of the studios that made them? Well you get what happened Killer clowns from space and Trick or treat. Both films are horror cult classics that deserve many entries and new films. However, Warner Bros. and MGM seem to think it’s not worth making sequels for either film. We’ve always had talks about sequels or reboots for both films, but those haven’t gone anywhere. However, there is one phenomenon that has kept both films in the eyes, ears and every other sense of horror fans.
Ghost Halloween.
Spirit Halloween did more to get people interested in these two films than anything the studios did.
Yes, if you are a huge fan of Killer clowns from space or Trick or treat, you might not see as much interest in these movies without all the Klowns and Sam merchandise from Spirit Halloween. I wrote about the magic and wonder of Spirit Halloween for Fright-A-Thon last year and these two films are a big part of that. There’s something that’s basically all about Halloween Trick or treat. Even if you live in Southern California, where we don’t have fall until much later than Halloween, the film makes you feel like everyone can catch up. It helps that Sam is a great mascot for the film and fits on so many different merch items.
I’m strolling around my local Spirit Halloween right now, there’s a Sam Candy Bowl figure, an animatronic Sam, costumes, countdown signs, a light-up Sam, dog costumes and even a Funko POP! Vinyl figure of Chuckles the Clown. That’s just a small part of what Trick ‘r Treat brings to us in store. there are more Trick or treat Article as there is for Friday the 13th. let that sink
The killer clowns are slowly marching back into our hearts
As for that Killer clowns from space, you’ve seen loads of merchandise at Spirit Halloween over the years. Year after year, Spirit Halloween has exclusive merchandise from the film in its stores, and yet the film came out in 1988. Since then we’ve never had a sequel, no reboot and, until recently, no video game. This video game, a haunted house from Universal Halloween Horror Nights (with an awesome trailer), and years of merchandise could change executives’ minds about a sequel.
Some of Spirit’s coolest merch includes a black light Funko POP! Vinyl from Jumbo, you can get the cotton candy gun, snow globes, light-up statues, animatronics, and even some of the other “props” from the film like acid cake, hand puppets, and Shorty’s bat. This does not include all costumes, smaller figures, posters, signs, bouncy castles and glasses/mugs. There is a huge crowd killer clowns Merchandise is available from Spirit Halloween.
It’s not all for popularity, but let’s give Spirit some props
This might read like an ad for Spirit Halloween, but it’s not. I just love the store, I love the idea of a Halloween store that takes over the decaying corpse of a Sears or other department store two months out of the year and breathes new life into something that was long dead and gone. In an age of online shopping where you can get everything under the sun on Amazon or other places, the idea of having to go to a store to get that Spirit Halloween Exclusive Halloween: The Curse by Michael Myers illuminated Michael Myers bust, is one I can put behind me. It’s not like the items are Balenciaga shoes that sell in-store for $500 and then resell online for a massive markup, these are Halloween decorations that you’ll be buying.
It’s movie merchandise that I hope will be passed down from you to the rest of your family. So to the shop that aroused interest Killer clowns from space and Trick or treat higher than usual, thank you.
