CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES, Sept. 19, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Parliament of the World’s Religions welcomed its new Director for Climate Action, Emily Echevarria.
Headquartered in Chicago, IL, USA, the Parliament of the World’s Religions is a 501(c)3 international NGO with a mission to promote harmony among the world’s religious and spiritual communities and to increase their engagement with the world and its leading institutions promote to the critical issues of our time. Parliament’s Climate Action Program guides the organization’s work on interfaith climate action and climate commitments by the world’s religious and spiritual communities. Working with communities and international NGOs such as UN Environment’s Faith for Earth and the Interfaith Rainforest Initiative.

Ms. Echevarria is a graduate of the University of North Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She is currently an Environmental Diplomacy Fellow at Depaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where she is pursuing a master’s degree from the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy. She will work with the Climate Action Task Force to further strengthen climate commitments and develop climate-related programming for Parliament’s 2023 convening. Task Force Vice Chair David Hales said:

Originally from Florida, Emily is a sustainability advocate and is particularly committed to the future of marine and coastal habitats. She has a background in non-profit coordination and grassroots environmental work, stating: “As Parliament convenes in 2023, I look forward to strengthening our partnerships with environmentally focused organizations and contributing to the growing international call for substance to act against climate change”.
Climate action remains a key focus of the Parliament of World Religions and will be a key agenda item at next August’s 2023 Parliament of World Religions in Chicago, Illinois. All individuals interested in submitting a climate-related program proposal are welcome and encouraged to submit a proposal by October 3, 2022.
