Al Ain: International cooperation is one of the strategic priorities of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). It aims to share best educational and research practices in a way that supports UAEU’s future vision of becoming a research-intensive university. UAEU, through its various colleges and research centers, maintains collaborative activities with 52 universities, centers and government educational or research institutions in Saudi Arabia.
Prof. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Provost for Research, emphasized that international cooperation and partnerships are essential to strengthen the university’s international reputation, which contributes to qualitative leaps in university rankings. In addition, international collaboration allows us to benefit from the infrastructure available in these institutions in a way that would improve our research outcomes. UAEU is working to improve its academic and research collaboration with universities and research centers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This collaboration resulted in the publication of 628 research papers with a total of 28,903 citations between 2017 and 2022, according to the Scopus database. This corresponds to 46 citations per research, confirming the quality of the research results and helping to strengthen the university’s global position.
In addition, there is a partnership program between the University of the United Arab Emirates and King Saud University, in which researchers from the two universities published 151 research papers with 20,250 citations between 2017 and 2022. Also, researchers from the University of the United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with researchers from Al Faisal University, published about 85 research papers with a total of 19,114 citations during this period.
Research collaborations with Saudi universities and educational institutions with a focus on medicine, engineering, chemistry, computer science, physics and astronomy. According to the Scopus database, 24% of joint publications in the period 2017-2022 were related to medicine. On the other hand, 19%, 11%, 10%, 10% of the publications related to engineering, chemistry, computer science, physics and astronomy, respectively.
UAEU researchers are also collaborating with researchers from King Saud University, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and King Abdulaziz University in seven projects. The UAEU Emirates Center for Mobility Research and Umm Al-Qura University are collaborating on a third-party funded project.
